The Christmas Spirit

With malice toward none;

With charity for all;

With firmness in the right, as God gives us to see the right,

Let us strive on to finish the work we are in;

To bind up the nation’s wounds;

To care for him who shall have borne the battle;

And for his widow,

And his orphan –

To do all which may achieve and cherish

a just and lasting peace among ourselves

And with all nations.

                                                                       Abraham Lincoln

  1. Yes Amelia, our country was a HUGE experiment in governance.
    There are spiritual battles …unseen….to abort such noble aims in this country.

    Certain people groups study to make chaos….they believe, and their prophet told them that God gives them koodos and mandates to do just that, in the name of superior knowledge and rightness. What do you do with that? They are certainly enemies. Killing an ememy who will kill you and family and countrymen for the sake of their false beliefs is not necessarily an unloving act….I think Ab would agree with me totally. What do you think Amelia?
    See, the military seems to encourage hatred of our enemies. I think the Biblical understanding is to love them….but that may be REAL TOUGH…..and in the end it may work out to maybe not look like love if one doesn’t understand the true dynamic and possibilities of Godly love…. What do you think?

    1. I think Love is powerful. Powerful enough to fight when it’s time to fight. Powerful enough to turn the other cheek when it’s time to do so. Either one completely impossible within the framework of love without the power of Jesus Christ in our lives.
